Sasol says it has become the first company to register a nitrous oxide (N2O) abatement project, using secondary catalyst technology to convert the greenhouse gas N2O into nitrogen and oxygen, under the Kyoto Protocol’s Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). Sasol commissioned its proprietary N2O emission abatement technology in the first quarter, having developed the process with assistance from emission-reduction company MGM International (Miami) and catalyst supplier WC Heraeus (Hanau, Germany).
