BASF to invest up to $625 million in new superabsorbent polymer technology

BASF has announced that it plans to make a major investment in a “pioneering superabsorbent technology” that enables design of thinner and more comfortable diapers. The investment will include up to €500 million ($625 million) during the next 2–3 years to establish droplet polymerization capacity worldwide. Existing plants will be revamped, starting in Europe, followed by Asia and the Americas, BASF says.
