Chemical Week Magazine :: New Construction Projects Toray Raises Global Carbon Fiber Capacity10:34 AM MDT | August 6, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Toray says it will increase capacity for the company’s Torayca polyacrylonitrile-based carbon fiber in France, Japan, and the U.S., The company will spend ¥55 billion ($461 million) to add a combined 4,000 m.t./year by the beginning of 2009. Toray will build new lines, each with capacity to produce 1,800 m.t./year, at its Toray Carbon Fibers America (Decatur, AL) subsidiary and its Société des Fibres de Carbone (Abidos, France) subsidiary, and it will add a high-performance carbon fiber production line with capacity for 400 m.t./year at...
