Thai Oil and Mitsui & Co. form LAB venture, Hyundai awarded contract

Thai Oil, via its wholly owned subsidiary Thai Paraxylene (TPX), has formed a joint venture, named Labix, with Mitsui & Co. to build Southeast Asia’s first integrated linear alkylbenzene (LAB) complex at Thai Oil’s Sriracha, Thailand, refinery. Labix is owned 75% by TPX and 25% by Mitsui. The facility will be designed to produce 100,000 m.t./year of LAB and is expected onstream in 2015. UOP is providing its process technology for the plant.
