Taiwan scraps plans for Kuokuang complex in Malaysia

Plans to relocate a petrochemical project from Taiwan to Malaysia have been scrapped, sources in Taipei tell CW. CPC Corp. (Taipei) said last year that Kuokuang Petrochemical—an affiliate in which CPC held 43% and other Taiwanese players, including Far Eastern Group and Chang Chun Group, held the rest—was in talks with Malaysian authorities about investing there, next to Petronas’s planned Refinery and petrochemical integrated development complex, at Pengerang, Johor State, Malaysia—near Singapore.
