Socar to Build Nitrogen Fertilizer Complexes in Azerbaijan and Georgia

The State Oil Co. of Azerbaijan (Socar; Baku) plans to build two nitrogen fertilizer complexes. One is a previously announced project to be located at the Sumgait, Azerbaijan site of the company’s Azerikhimya subsidiary. The second will be built on the Black Sea coast near Poti, Georgia. Socar says it has applied to the Georgian government for free industrial zone status for the planned complex.
