Sibur hikes BOPP capacity, receives clearance for JV with Sinopec

Sibur (Moscow), Russia’s largest producer of biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film, is expanding capacity by more than 60%. Sibur’s Biaxplen BOPP subsidiary will build a plant near the Tomskneftekhim manufacturing complex at Tomsk, Russia, to produce 38,000 m.t./year of BOPP film. Tomskneftekhim will supply polypropylene feedstock to the new facility, which is slated to be onstream at the end of this year. Biaxplen, meanwhile, is expanding its BOPP facility at Novokuibyshevsk, Russia, by adding a second line with capacity for 30,500 m.t./year. That...
