Chemical Week Magazine :: New Construction Projects Saipem Awarded Contract for Safco Urea Manufacturing Unit7:53 AM MST | December 16, 2011 Saudi Arabian Fertilizer Co. (Safco), a manufacturing affiliate of Sabic, has awarded a turnkey contract for the engineering design, supply, and construction of the previously announced Safco 5 fertilizer plant to Saipem (Milan). The new plant will be one of the world’s largest urea production facilities with an investment cost of SR2 billion ($533 million). It will be designed to produce 1.1 million m.t./year of urea and is expected onstream in the third quarter of 2014.
