SK Global plans acrylic acid, derivatives plants at Ulsan

SK Global Chemical, through a strategic alliance with Mitsubishi Chemical, plans to build an acrylic acid plant at Ulsan, South Korea, by 2016. The plant will be designed to produce 160,000 m.t./year. SK is also considering constructing a superabsorbent polymers (SAP) plant that would consume output from the planned acrylic acid unit. The SAP market is growing strongly in China, Southeast Asia, and other developing countries, SK says. The plan may include other products within this value chain.
