Repsol to build metallocene PE plant at Tarragona

Repsol has announced plans to build a polyethylene (PE) plant at the companyâ€™s Tarragona, Spain petrochemical complex. The unit will use Chevron Phillips Chemicalâ€™s (CP Chem) metallocene technology to produce PE. Repsol, which already uses CP Chemâ€™s technology to produce high-density PE (HDPE), will be the first licensee of CP Chemâ€™s metallocene process. The company plans to complete the new plant in the fourth quarter of 2015. The Tarragona complex currently has capacity to produce 150,000 m.t./year of HDPE and 213,000 m.t./year of low-density PE.
