Qapco plans to expand petrochemical operations in Qatar

Qatar Petrochemical Co. (Qapco; Doha), an 80-20 joint venture between Industries Qatar and Total, is planning to expand capacity of its steam cracker at Mesaieed, Qatar, by investing 1.2 billion Qatari rials ($329.5 million), according to local reports citing Mohammed Yousef Al Mulla, CEO of Qapco. The company plans to add 400,000 m.t./year of ethylene capacity at Mesaieed, which would increase the total there to 1.2 million m.t./year. Qapco operates two ethylene plants at the site, and the expansion project would be carried out by debottlenecking these units...
