Despite gloomy predictions for fine chemical firms struggling under cost pressures from excess capacity and stiffening international competition, the Informex fine and specialty chemicals expo held in San Francisco earlier this month was awash with companies planning to install multimillion-dollar fine chemical manufacturing capacity.
