Evonik hikes butene-1 capacity in Germany

Evonik says it plans to increase production capacity for butene-1 at its Marl, Germany, site by 75,000 m.t./year by 2015. The increase will give the company a combined butene-1 capacity of 310,000 m.t./year, making Evonik the world’s leading producer of butene-1, the company says. Basic engineering is nearing completion, but the project still needs approvals from relevant committees.
