Dakota Gas board approves urea facility at Beulah

Dakota Gasification Co.’s (Dakota Gas; Bismarck, ND) board has approved the construction of a previously announced urea production facility at the company’s Great Plains synfuels plant near Beulah, ND. Dakota Gas plans to invest about $402 million in the plant, which is scheduled onstream in early 2017. The facility will be designed to produce 1,100 m.t./day of granular urea using ammonia feedstock produced on-site. Dakota Gas has capacity for about 400,000 m.t./year of ammonia.
