Chemanol to build sulfonated naphthalene formaldehyde unit

Methanol Chemicals Co. (Chemanol; Ad DammńĀm, Saudi Arabia), a producer of methanol-based chemicals, plans to invest 75 million Saudi riyals ($20 million) to build a plant at its Al Jubail manufacturing complex to produce the superplasticizer sulfonated naphthalene formaldehyde (SNF). The facility will have an initial production capacity of 60,000 m.t./year. Construction is expected to start next year with commercial production commencing in 2015.
