Chemical Week Magazine :: New Construction Projects Bayer MaterialScience Invests in PU Coating Raw Materials in Germany5:50 AM MST | January 27, 2012 Bayer MaterialScience has started construction of a multipurpose facility to produce polyurethane (PU) coating raw materials at Leverkusen. The facility will produce hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), which are used primarily in automotive and industrial coatings. The company is investing about €35 million ($45.5 million) to build the plant, which is due onstream in fourth quarter 2013.
