BP Licenses PTA Process to JBF for Plant in India

Elmslie: Three or four PTA plants needed each year. JBF Petrochemicals, a wholly owned subsidiary of JBF Industries (Mumbai), will build a 1.25-million m.t./year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant at the Mangalore Special Economic Zone in India. This is the first time that BP has licensed its PTA technology to a nonaffiliated third party, the company says.
