BP Increases PTA Capacity in China Including a New Plant

BP says it is proceeding with a project that will result in a major increase in purified terephthalic acid (PTA) production capacity at the company’s BP Zhuhai Chemical Co. subsidiary at Zhuhai, China. BP Zhuhai is a joint venture between BP and Zhuhai Port Co., formerly Fu Hua Group. BP says it will debottleneck its second PTA plant at the Zhuhai site, increasing capacity by more than 200,000 m.t./year and raising total PTA capacity at the site to about 1.7 million m.t./year.
