BASF, Huntsman confirm plans to double MDI capacity in China

BASF has confirmed that, together with partners, it is progressing with plans to double methylene di- para -phenylene isocyanate (MDI) capacity at the Shanghai chemical industry park, at Caojing, China. BASFâ€™s board members first announced the plans during an investor day at London in May. BASF, Huntsman, Shanghai Hua Yi Group, Shanghai Chlor-Alkali Chemical, and Sinopec Group Asset Management Corp. held a ceremony recently to mark the start of construction of the 240,000-m.t./year crude MDI plant at their Shanghai Lianheng Isocyanate Co.
