Chemical Week Magazine :: New Construction Projects Arkema and CJ break ground for bio-methionine complex in Malaysia9:08 AM MDT | October 12, 2012 Arkema and its partner CJ CheilJedang (Seoul) have held a groundbreaking ceremony for their previously announced bio-methionine plant and thiochemicals manufacturing complex at Kertih, Malaysia. CJ is contributing its industrial biofermentation technology to produce L-methionine, a bio-amino acid for animal feed, from renewable feedstocks. Arkema, meanwhile, is providing its process to produce methyl mercaptan, a sulfur-based intermediate used in the production of methionine. The complex is scheduled to come onstream by end-2013.
