AkzoNobel to hike MCA capacity at Delfzijl, Netherlands

AkzoNobel says it will increase capacity for monochloroacetic acid (MCA) solution at Delfzijl, Netherlands, by 15,000 m.t./year, raising total MCA capacity at the site to about 115,000 m.t./year. The start-up of the new capacity is scheduled for 2014. The project “will address bottlenecks in the current supply chain of our Delfzijl plant,” says Jürgen Baune, general manager/MCA at AkzoNobel. “Although market growth for MCA in Europe is more or less flat, this capacity increase will help us to address the growing demand of those customers who apply MCA...
