CNPC to join petrochemical investment in Uzbekistan

China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC), the parent of PetroChina, is expected to join UzIndoramaGazChemical, a $2.5-billion petrochemical project in Uzbekistan, according to Uzbekistani government sources. CNPC has signed a memorandum of participation with state-owned Uzbekneftegaz (Tashkent) and the Singapore arm of Indorama Group, the original investors in the project. The complex will be built at the Mubarek gas-processing plant, in Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya region, and is expected to produce 500,000 m.t./year of polyethylene (PE). Uzbekneftegaz and Indorama...
