Evonik to expand C4-chain capacity in Germany and Belgium

Yu: Long-term growth potential in C4 chain. Evonik Industries says it will develop its C4 products chain with the expansions of its butene-1 capacity at the Marl Chemical Park (Marl, Germany), its butadiene capacity at Antwerp, and its methyl tert -butyl ether (MTBE) production at Antwerp and Marl. The expansions are scheduled to be onstream in 2015. The investment, which according to Evonik is valued in “hundreds of millions of euros,” will add 75,000 m.t./year to Evonik’s Marl butene-1 plant, which has an existing capacity of 50,000 m.t./year...
