Qatar shelves Al Sejeel petchems megaproject

Industries Qatar (Doha) says it has decided to shelve the multibillion-dollar Al Sejeel petrochemical project that it had been planning at Ras Laffan, Qatar. The company says a separate downstream petrochemical project that is expected to yield better economic returns is instead under study. Further details will be provided in due course, the company says. Al Sejeel is a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum and Qatar Petrochemical Co.
