Delta and Pine Land Reports Loss

Delta and Pine Land (D&PL; Scott, MS) reported a net loss of $9.3 million (26 cts/share) for its fiscal first quarter ended November 30, compared to a net loss of $9.4 million in the same period last year. The company says it typically incurs losses in its first and fourth quarters due to the “seasonal nature” of the seed business. Sales for its fiscal first quarter were up 44%, to $14.3 million.
