Corporate Earnings Climb

corporate operating earnings rose 0.9% in the fourth quarter, after increasing 1.7% in the third. The slowdown was the result of a sharp drop in earnings from overseas. Domestic profits gained a rapid 3.8% for the quarter, following a 1.8% rise in the previous three months.
