Chemical Week Magazine :: Departments :: Leading Indicators Indicator Rises Again9:43 AM MST | January 29, 2010 | Arnold Pearlman The leading indicator for the chemical industry added 1.4% in January, following a strong 1.7% rise in December. Fourth-quarter production of chemicals and allied products was 7.1% ahead of the first-quarter lows. There was an even split in the performance of the components of the leading indicator for the January calculation. On the positive side, industrial production in the chemical process industries gained 4.1% in December. There was solid growth in building materials, paper, petroleum refining, rubber and plastics products, and nonferrous metals. Overall...
