The leading indicator for the chemical industry dropped 0.7% in February, following a slight gain in January. The indicator is now back at December levels. The average chemical industry stock price, along with the rest of the stock market, has declined in recent months. That has contributed to the near-term sluggishness of the indicator, analysts say.
