The leading indicator for the chemical industry fell 0.8% in March, a less precipitous drop than the previous five months. Most components remained weak, but there was a jump in new construction. Production in the chemical process industries fell in February for the fourth consecutive month, with only the petroleum refining sector exhibiting signs of strength.
