Ethylene contracts for January ended a five-month nosedive and settled up 3 cts/lb, to 31.5 cts/lb, reflecting a more stable supply/demand balance, sources say. Spot olefins markets in Europe were quiet. Ethylene gained €25/m.t. butadiene prices were unchanged, easing onto what market watchers are calling a plateau.
