Crude oil prices eased from record highs last week, but remain well above summer averages. In Europe spot prices for naphtha rose to a record high of $765/m.t., but settled at a loss of $5/m.t. from the prior week. North American ethylene producers are attempting to implement increases of 5 cts-6 cts/lb, citing higher ethane costs and record-low inventories, market sources say.
