Crude oil soared to record highs of more than $86/bbl last week, pushing naphtha and aromatics prices sharply higher. Global oil prices were driven up by heightened tensions in Northern Iraq, market sources say. Light feeds rose in the U.S. by about 10 cts/gal. European olefins prices were highly volatile. Ethylene and butadiene prices finished roughly unchanged, but propylene was sharply lower at CW press time. Cracker outages and low supplies from refineries had pushed C3s to new highs.
