Unplanned cracker outages on the U.S. Gulf Coast boosted U.S. ethylene spot prices by 3 cts-4 cts/lb last week despite softening feedstock costs, market player say. One of Westlake Chemical’s crackers at Lake Charles, LA went down unexpectedly, and ExxonMobil Chemical was having problems at one of its Baytown, TX units, sources say. Propylene spot prices softened about a penny, in line with lower refinery grade propylene prices.
