Crude oil and refined products prices continued to rise last week, putting pressure on petrochemical production prices. Chemical prices also rose for the first part of last week, but by press time they were generally off from their intraweek highs. That could indicate that a peak has been reached, market watchers say. European olefins markets were quiet. Shell reported that it had brought its steam cracker at Moerdijk, the Netherlands back onstream and that it ended its force majeure on ethylene and propylene.
