Heavier-feed crackers are running at reduced rates due to unattractive economics, creating some tightness of supply for olefins, market sources say. Spot ethylene prices continue to strengthen, gaining another penny last week. Producers have nominated 5 cts/lb for May contracts to improve margins, and April contracts remained unsettled as of CW presstime.
