Spot ethylene prices continue to strengthen, gaining another penny last week. Producers have nominated 5 cts/lb for May contracts to improve margins, and April contracts remained unsettled as of CW presstime. Butadiene and propylene remain tight, and it is unlikely any additional supply will be coming into that market in the near term unless heavy cracking economics improve, sources say.
