U.S. Toxics Debate renews Interest in Canada’s Model

Canada’s chemical management program would be a preferable model for revising the U.S. Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), according to U.S. industry representatives debating reform of U.S. chemical management policy. Canada’s approach has winnowed about 19,000 chemicals from the initial 23,000 on the country’s domestics substance list, and focuses first on getting data for persistent and bioaccumulative substances.
