The Mideast is expected to add more than 4 million m.t./year of ethylene capacity this year, following the commissioning of several steam crackers in 2009. Plants to be added in 2010 include Morvarid Petrochemical at Assaluyeh, Iran; Ras Laffan Olefins Co. at Ras Laffan, Qatar; Sharq, a Sabic subsidiary, at Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia; and Borouge’s second cracker at Ruwais, Abu Dhabi.
