While the primary beneficiaries of shale gas have been North American commodity chemical producers, specialties makers, too, hope for cheaper raw materials and a lift for US industrial production because of cheap energy costs. Growth in automotive and construction and rising costs in high-growth economies are also making North America more competitive.
