Forecast: Will Growth Endure?

A slowdown in the global economy in late 2011 and a likely recession in Europe have put industry on less stable ground compared with twelve months ago. Chemical makers, however, should be able to withstand short-term economic turbulence and post year-over-year demand gains in 2012, outpacing the global economy. “With a recession in Europe weighing on activity, a 3.6% gain in global chemical output is expected in 2012,” says Kevin Swift, ACC managing director and chief economist.
