Forecast 2011: Shifting from Recovery to Expansion

Industry enters 2011 with solid momentum with global and U.S. chemical shipments each forecast to increase by 5%, says Kevin Swift, ACC chief economist and managing director. “Globally, recovery in chemicals has shifted to expansion,” Swift says. “The prior peak has been breached for global chemical shipments, but the U.S. is lagging and is still in recovery mode.” Global chemical shipments soared 8.8% in 2010 as the global economic recovery took hold, ACC says.
