GDP growth is forecast to slow slightly in 2007, but stay generally strong across the “euro area,” consisting of the 12 European Union (EU) countries that have adopted the euro, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD; Paris) says. “In the euro area, activity has finally taken off, following a series of aborted recoveries,” says OECD chief economist Jean-Philippe Cotis.
