Borouge: A Growth Driver for Mideast Petrochemicals

Abdulaziz Alhajri, CEO of Borouge. Abu Dhabi Polymers Co. (Borouge) has transformed itself into a major power in the worldwide polyolefins industry. The company, a 60-40 joint venture between Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (Adnoc) and Borealis (Vienna), started production just 10 years ago at its Ruwais complex and shipped its first polyethylene (PE) cargoes in 2002. The company today has 2 million m.t./year of polyolefins capacity following completion last year of the Borouge 2 manufacturing complex, and it is adding 2.5 million m.t./year of capacity by the end 2013...
