Chemical Week Magazine :: Cover Story Asia and Latin America Lead Paper Chemical Growth1:11 PM MST | February 4, 2008 | Esther D’Amico Asia and Latin America continue to exceed the rest of the world in pulp and paper chemical demand growth in terms of volume, according to preliminary findings in a report from the Freedonia Group (Cleveland). Most of that demand is for low-cost commodity chemicals, Freedonia says in the soon-to-be-finalized study. Brazil, Chile, and China have especially high growth rates. The global pulp and paper chemical market in 2006 was about 70 million tons, with the U.S. accounting for about 26% of that, the study says. Latin American markets benefit from good weather...
