Schering Comes under the Bayer Umbrella

Schering has officially changed its name to Bayer Schering Pharma and become a division of Bayer HealthCare. Bayer acquired Schering last year for €16.9 billion ($22.3 billion) to become Germany’s biggest pharmaceuticals manufacturer. Bayer recently announced plans to squeeze out Schering’s remaining shareholders (CW, Dec. 13, 2006, p. 11). Separately, Bayer says it has completed the €4.2-billion sale of its diagnostics business to engineering company...
