Chemical Week Magazine :: Companies Kuraray First-Quarter Profits, Sales Fall; Chemical Business Sales Up6:01 AM MDT | July 31, 2008 | Deepti Ramesh Kuraray (Tokyo) has recorded 14% decrease in net profits to ¥6.53 billion ($61 million), for the first quarter ended June 30, 2008, as compared to the same period last fiscal. And sales fell by about 1% to ¥100 billion. The chemicals and resins business of Kuraray, however, recorded a 7% increase in sales to ¥62 billion and operating income was up by 12% to ¥13 billion. Sales of polyvinyl acetate (PVA) resins steadily expanded due to rising demand for PVA films used in liquid crystal displays (LCD) for televisions and monitors, Kuraray says. Sales...
