Chemical Week Magazine :: Companies Indian-Syrian JV Plans Major Urea Complex in Egypt12:35 PM MDT | July 25, 2007 | Deepti Ramesh and Ian Young Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT; Kochi, India) says it is considering plans to invest Rs2 billion ($450 million) to build an ammonia and urea complex in Egypt. FACT says it has signed a preliminary agreement to form a joint venture with Adi Establishment (Damascus) to construct the plant, which will have capacity to produce 700,000 m.t.-1 million m.t./year of urea. FACT says it will have a “good share in the project but it may not be a majority stake.” The ammonia-urea plant will most likely be constructed near the Suez Canal to facilitate...
