Diversa Focuses Alliance With Syngenta on Biofuels

Diversa says it has entered into a 10-year R&D agreement with Syngenta to develop enzymes to convert bagasse, a cellulosic biomass, into mixed sugars—a key step in the production of bioethanol. The new alliance replaces a previous seven-year collaboration between the two companies that started in February 2003 (CW, Dec. 11, 2002, p. 13).
