Westlake starts up chlor-alkali plant at Geismar

Westlake Chemical says it has started up its previously announced chlor-alkali plant at the company’s vinyls manufacturing complex at Geismar, LA. The new chlor-alkali plant has the capacity to produce 350,000 electrochemical units (ECUs)/year and utilizes membrane technology. The plant is adjacent to the complex’s existing vinyl chloride monomer and polyvinyl chloride facilities and has added about 70 employees at the site.
