Vale extends deadline on tax-break request for potash project

Vale (Rio de Janeiro) could extend, beyond 28 February, a deadline given to the Argentinian government requesting a $2-billion tax break during the development phase of the company’s Rio Colorado potash project, according to a report in the La Nueva Provincia news service. Vale’s request was denied earlier this month by the Mendoza, Argentina, provincial government, according to the Buenos Aires Herald newspaper. Various alternatives to aid the lowering of the project’s costs, such as “improving existing railways and building 250 kilometers more,”...
