Third-quarter earnings rose at most early reporting U.S. specialty chemical companies because of improved overseas demand and improved operational initiatives. However, Rohm and Haas’s (R&H) earnings dropped due to charges, and Albemarle’s earnings fell because of a weak polymer additives market.
